Beautiful Bath

Today Carly and I took a mini adventure to Bath Spa--that's what they call the train stop anyway. We awoke at 5AM .. and was at the station a hour and a half before our train.. and the train was another two hours to Bath. Well to say the least Bath was simply amazing. We went to Bath Abbey and this is what I found out about the Abbey on this lovely internet contraption: (since the actual pamphlet had no such information.)

"Begun in 1499, Bath Abbey is the last of the great medieval churches of England. The West Front is unique as it depicts the dream that inspired the Abbey's founder, Bishop Oliver King, to pull down the ruined Norman cathedral and raise the present building on its foundations.
Over the past twelve and a half centuries, three different churches have occupied the site of today’s Abbey:An Anglo-Saxon Abbey Church dating from 757, pulled down by the Norman conquerors of England soon after 1066.A massive Norman cathedral begun about 1090. The Abbey was our first stop. And everything in Bath is perfect walking distance from everywhere. All tourist spots and shops. Next on our list was of course the Roman Baths: Built sometime before 500 A.D.

Then we went to Jane Austen's Exhibition which wasn't her original home (which really was on 25 Gay Street, not 40 Gay Street.) but had some interesting info.. fore example she hated Bath, because it was a strict, bustling city that didn't give much leeway to young women. The exhibition was that great.. mostly old dresses and a small presentation.. so I got out of there quickly and went straight for the gift shop. Found a beautiful Pride and Prejudice (with a peacock on it) it was 225 pounds .. so I put it back.

After all this was completed we had a small walk through the park, a mini labyrinth, and a wee bit of rugby too! And by the end of all we ended up having 4 hours to kill at a pub and a Starbucks ...because it was rainning too hard for even us Seattlites by this time --after a pilgrimage to find a deck of cards-- we were barley staying awake. So, many a card game later, a man with creepy, yet intriguing eyes, and late trains we made it back home and now it is 1AM and I am dead sleepy.
